Ornge

Internal Company Intranet

Project Overview

Ornge had a mandate to greatly improve their staff engagement on their intranet site. In order to achieve this goal they sought to create a modern and mobile friendly intranet site that was both visually pleasing, intuitive and oriented towards their users and organizations unique needs.

Implementation Goals

Ornge wanted to develop a new intranet site that would be visually appealing, clean, and easily manageable, with enhanced opportunities for social functions and multimedia.

This new intranet would provide a forum for employee engagement, as well as a vehicle for localized and company-wide communications among Ornge’s Mississauga head office and bases.

The Challenges

It was apparent to Visual Antidote that the 12 to 16 weeks’ timeframe proposed for the completion of this project left a narrow window to deliver the high quality intranet that Ornge was expecting.

Ornge wanted a system that had a lot of out of the box functionality to reduce cost. This functionality included forms, discussion board, calendar, resource libraries, blog, and a FAQ section. Fortunately, Kentico already came with these functionalities which enabled Visual Antidote to focus their development efforts on the design of the site.

The Kentico system needed to integrate with their existing user database in Microsoft Dynamics.

The Results

Visual Antidote was able to develop an attractive modern website that engaged staff while developing features such as the Toolbox which has all of Ornge’s reference documents on it. It contains document libraries of downloadable documents such as PDF forms, word, powerpoint templates, email signatures, stock images and more. It also contains the document viewer where each document can be previewed before downloading.
